Culture & Art

Culture Spot

In case you didn’t know, there’s a gem hidden on the campus of Florida International University — and it’s not just for students. In fact, it’s a place for everyone — as long as you’ve got an appreciation for everything culture and creativity.

The Patricia & Philip Frost Art Museum got its start as a student gallery, but long ago blossomed into a full-fledged cultural mecca that’s a Smithsonian Institution affiliate, bringing world-class art from around the world to Miami. This summer, head over to check out the Miami’s Vices exhibition, a celebration of video works by female artists in South Florida. Then take a peek at the sculptures of Ursula von Rydingsvard, powerfully elemental shapes formed from an unusual medium: cedar. Open Tues.-Sun.; 10975 SW 17th St., Miami; 305.348.2890;
