State and Federal entitlements can only go so far, and unfortunately it’s not far enough. That’s where the Children’s Needs Program at Voices For Children steps in to provide direct financial assistance for basic priorities such as food, clothing, rent and utilities, etc. Since Voices believes that all kids deserve to have a childhood and enjoy this phase of life, they also fund various social enrichment experiences, including field trips, after-school activities, summer camps, and much more. An increasingly important focus of the Children’s Needs Program is to provide financial support and the resources for a group of especially high-risk youth and young adults: students who are “aging or aged out” of Miami-Dade foster care and in need of financial, emotional and mentoring support so they can graduate from high school, complete vocational training and/or earn a college degree despite not having a support system. The goal is to increase opportunities for sustainable employment toward independent adulthood and a prosperous, happy future; BeAVoice.org.
