A journey of rhythm celebrating the “mestizaje” of The Americas, América Viva! 100 Voices is a musical based on multiculturalism, carrying a message that motivates inclusion, solidarity and diversity. Through music, dance and song, the extravaganza brings to life the story of how our cultures came together and the America of today was born. Conceived by Carolina Lizarraga, the musical features more than 80 artists on stage including multi Grammy Winner Paquito D’Rivera, who narrates and plays sax. Immersive video mapping, performances by New Land Dance Company and a choir of 100 children from the Miami Children’s Chorus round out the experience. The musical is produced by the América Viva Alliance, an organization that unites more than 30 allied foundations from 8 Latin American countries, the U.S. and Canada. The organization believes in the power of music and theater to raise awareness and motivate the community to help humanitarian causes around the world. Get ready for a finger-licking, good time at the inaugural Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Bacon & BBQ Classic with all the great B’s: Bacon, BBQ, Bourbon, and lots of Beer! Foodies will sample savory bites from the nation’s finest pit masters while sipping pairing flights of bourbon and beer in the garden and rocking out to live music and DJ tunes. Participating vendors include Bodega Taqueria with mouth-watering BBQ tacos; Pig Floyd’s juicy BBQ brisket and pulled pork; Key West Sweets’ scrumptious Mini Bacon Cupcake; and grilling, smoking and roasting demos from Meat N’ Bone in collaboration with The Barrel.
