Since 2016, Friends of Miami Animals Foundation has been changing lives, one homeless pet at a time. Providing funding for free wellness services for owned pets through the WOW Mobile Vet Clinic, as well as grants for low cost or free spay and neuter and pet retention services. FoMA works to help keep animals healthy and keep pet families together and out of shelters. Data shows that nationwide Bully breeds experience longer shelter stays, higher euthanasia rates and discriminatory housing that keeps potential adopters away and causes owners to surrender them to shelters. With so many Bully breed dogs in shelters nationwide, there are also barriers to transport due to so many homeless Bullies and large dogs, and not enough homes. Carmen Jorda, a Spanish motor racing driver, appointed by Lotus, became the 11th woman in history to be part of a Formula 1 team, and is Operation Pit Stop’s newest spokesperson. The organization is making a history of their own by spearheading this program in Miami that focuses on Bully breeds, while not turning away any owned dog for sterilization. Operation Pit Stop will provide over 500 free spay or neuter services, vaccinations and microchipping. Volunteers and donors are needed for all the initiatives; OperationPitStop.com; FoMAPets.org.
