Some people will never realize their dreams, no matter how hard they try. Yes, that’s a strong line. But it’s true. Others may have a dream that they are forced to adjust throughout their lives and careers due to circumstances beyond their control. Still a rare few, however, achieve more than they’d ever hoped for. But what causes these variances? Well, luck for one. The old adage of being at the right place at the right time often rings true. Luck, though, doesn’t last forever. Once an opportunity is presented, hard work is required to sustain it. That’s why I look forward to producing the “Top 20 Under 40” issue every year. The finalists have all found the perfect balance between success at work and success at life, no matter where they started out or which field they chose to go into. Thorough it all, they’ve mastered the fine arts of balance, goal-setting and reaching their goals. They are all driven. They are all confident. They all have great resumés. But above all, they have each remained humble. And that is perhaps the greatest achievement of all.
