A wristwatch capable of simultaneously monitoring two distinct time zones is nothing new. More than 60 years ago, Rolex created the GMT at the behest of Pan Am to ensure international flights arrived on schedule. However, most GMT owners have no clue how to actually use the time zone function, so the big green pointer serves only an aesthetic function. Porsche Design had a better idea; the Globetimer UTC has buttons on either side of the crown. Users can easily adjust the second set of hour and minute hands to reflect another time zone. Porsche Design’s mantra should be KISS; Keep It Simple & Stunning. A black dial is used because Porsche knows a black dashboard background allows drivers to monitor all gauges easily at a glance. A leather or metal strap keeps the timepiece in place, while the titanium gold case provides water-resistance to depths of 100’; Porsche-Design.com.
