Facetite (also called Embrace) is an exciting new technology using an internal radiofrequency probe to tighten the neck and jowls. “The probe is placed through a tiny incision, and delivers heat to the target area,” says Coral Gables-based Dr. John Martin. “The heat both melts some fat, and stimulates new collagen production, which tightens the skin.” For people with substantial amounts of fat, some liposuction can be done through the same small incision. Best of all, no sutures are needed afterward and the procedure can be done with local anesthesia. Most people will be swollen for a few days, and there can be some bruising, but minimal discomfort. While there may be some improvement in the jawline after one to two weeks, the complete tightening process may take up to 6 months. Accutite is a similar procedure but with a smaller probe, so it is used to help tighten skin on the lower eyelids. Dr. Martin usually incorporates Facetite with a more superficial radiofrequency treatment for fine lines and wrinkles called Morpheus which combines microneedling with radiofrequency; JohnMartinMD.com.
