Bea Pernia finds inspiration in everyday life. She particularly appreciates functionality merged with design. “The perfect environment should engage all the senses and help people slow down and admire their surroundings, even in our fast-paced, overstimulated world.” On the residential side, her style is Organic Modern. “It’s inviting, elegant and playful,” she says. “I like to use a neutral color palette, clean aesthetic, organic shapes, layers of textiles, and bright accent pillows, art and wall décor. Natural plant life elevates the senses and brings the outdoors in.” On the commercial side, last year a client invited her to design a restaurant in Tulum, Mexico. “The day I landed, I was informed that the project would now be a 16-Hectare, 65-room hotel: a complete blank canvas both beachfront and jungle-side,” she says. “I was given two months to create a concept and design a grand entrance, lobby, restaurant, beach club, pool, yoga area, mezcal bar and communal spaces. My first reaction was to laugh, because I thought it was impossible, but I took the risk, even though I had multiple projects in Miami at the time! The Roc Luxe Tulum is now complete, and I look forward to it becoming a must-visit, celebrated destination.” On the furniture design side, her new ATUS collection, inspired by Mother Nature, will be exhibited at Design Miami 2021; BeaInteriorsDesign.com.

Design Tip: “Bringing natural elements inside your home, using neutral palettes as a base, and incorporating earthy tones and organic shapes accented by bold colors will enhance the character of every space in your home.”

Hobbies: “I love designing and creating new pieces of furniture and traveling to discover new places and absorb their traditions and cultures.”

Cool Fact: “As a designer, I imagine a harmonious  space to make it visual and tangible. For me, it’s all about the pleasure of creating something from nothing.”
