“What I enjoy most about my creative endeavors is that they are all spaces in which I can continue to evolve in.”

Alaire Harris got into modeling accidentally. “I was at the mall when a man started following me around,” she says. “It was super creepy at first but it turned out he worked for the Marketing Department for the mall. He told me they were having a fashion show and I would be perfect for it.” She has since appeared in ads for Target, HGTV and IKEA, just to name a few, as well as TV shows such as Graceland and a few short films. “I moved to Miami in 2003 and was living the life — what I thought was the ‘life’ anyway — but that life took money and I was running out of it quickly,” she says. “I had to think of a side hustle to make some quick cash. My mother always said, ‘If you work with your hands, you’ll make money’ — so I started making jewelry. I invested in some jewelry supplies thanks to a friend who invested $500 and my jewelry line Laira + Lou was born.” Music is her other love, especially House music. “Everyone knows that the DJ is always the person who gets the party started and I always wanted to be that person,” she says. “A couple of years ago, I was hanging out with a good friend of mine who is a DJ/producer here in Miami and I started messing around with mixing records — and the rest, as they say, is history!”; LairaLou.StoreEnvy.com.
