Heartfully bringing joy into the lives of many of our community’s children, local do-gooders KIND Birthdays sponsor and set-up monthly birthday parties at area shelters including Chapman Partnership and Miami Rescue Mission. If you’re interested in bringing smiles into the lives of some of our area’s underserved and crafting some positive memories for those who need it the most, then consider donating to this very worthy cause; Fundly.com.

Caribbean Carouse
A spectacular showcase of our area’s Caribbean inhabitants and the captivating culture they integrate into our own, Oct. 7 will see the Miami-Broward Carnival Parade & Concert reach its always-sizzling grand finale. Featuring some of the month’s most spectacular costumes and more steel drums and jerk chicken than you can shake a leg at, whether it’s with family or just for your own entertainment and education, you don’t want to miss this always-awesome event; MiamiBrowardCarnival.com.

Claw-some
Can you taste it yet, Miami? That melodious medley of sharp mustard and tender, chilled crab claw? Officially ushering in our Stone Crab season with its characteristic charm, Oct. 16-20 will bring SOBE Seafood Week back to our area’s most scenic sands. Featuring culinary battles, pop-ups masterminded by our beach’s most spectacular seafood saloons and a live entertainment stage, don’t be shellfish this season and take your family and friends to a food festival they won’t soon forget; SOBESeafoodFest.com.

Creatures Great & Small
A spooktacular way to celebrate Halloween with all manner of fun and furry friends, ZooMiami’s annual ZooBoo: All Hallow’s Eve extravaganza will once more be enlivening our favorite Magic City menagerie. Featuring a costume contest, Halloween crafts, trick-or-treating and more, come howl at the moon and watch some of our city’s rarest residents enjoying treats of their own under the informative ushering of the zoo’s staff; ZooMiami.org.

Fright Sands
A truly ghoulish gala featuring all of Miami’s best and brightest, Nightmare On The Beach at Lummus Park is the only Miami nightlife event where even unexpected demise isn’t a reason to miss. Featuring a Prom Night theme, this year’s Little Lighthouse Foundation fundraiser will benefit some of South Florida’s most necessary non-profits, all while providing the signature plates, pours and screams that have made this one of the year’s most sensational must-attends; NightmareOnTheBeach.com.

All Hart
An always-soldout event frankly more akin to a major arena rock show than an hour-long comedy special, serial showman and Night School star Kevin Hart will bring his energetic brand of observational humor to AAA this Oct. 13. Funny, frenetic, riding high on the success of pretty much everything he’s ever touched, no life is complete without at least once busting a button to the ministrations of one of history’s most successful humorist; AAArena.com.

Movie Right
A 4-day fall film festival sure to inflect educated conversations the whole year round, come see some of the world’s award season frontrunners at this year’s GEMS Film Festival, held between Oct. 11-14 at MDC’s Tower Theatre. Always captivatingly curated and featuring films some of our domestic market may never otherwise get a chance to see, whether its Spanish screwball comedy Hopelessly Devout or the heartbreaking Italian mob flick Boys Cry, there’s something for every type of film fan at this fantastic foreign fest; MiamiFilmFestival.com.

Fun For All Ages
A party with a purpose jam-packed with all types of entertaining accessories, the Arsht Center’s always-spectacular Imagination Ball is that very rare type of event: a classically curated fundraiser that your kids can enjoy too! With a pulse-pounding performance by techno dance troupe iLuminate, fantastic food and a post-event dance party on the Ziff Ballet Opera House Stage, every age of child will find something to enjoy during this galactically-themed gala; Oct. 14; ArshtCenter.org.

Tragedy, In Stereo
It’s the type of genre-defining combination that could only be melded in this Magic City we love so well: Take Euripides’ heartrending tragedy depicting that most brutal of crimes, a mother murdering her own children, and recast it as a Latin disco variety show. A bold performance put on by MDC Live Arts, La Medea is the type of show that simply has to be seen to be believed, a bold and potentially career-defining conception that should make shockwaves across our global theatrical scene; Oct. 25-27; MDCLiveArts.org.

Cellar Cheers
An excellent way to directly experience history in a way rarely presented before, perhaps the most interesting of the Deering Estate’s many events in the month of October is its Prohibition Era Cellar Series, a once-monthly event where Miami Club Rum will be tasted in the secretive basement of the Stone House, a 1920’s hideaway hidden behind a bookshelf where all manner of contraband were stored. A truly awesome way to sample some seriously delicious spirits; Oct. 2; DeeringEstate.org.

Ice Cold
Our tropical take on that ever-attractive celebration of all things German, sample some of the world’s finest microbreweries and drafthouses while enjoying the scenic surrounds of Coconut Grove during this year’s Grovetoberfest on Oct. 13. Featuring over 200 beer varieties, a homebrew contest and perhaps the only day in our city’s calendar when the characteristic Latin pop hits will be drowned out by the classic German polka, slap on your lederhosen and head out to this annual ale-filled fest; Grovetoberfest.com.

Wherefore Art Thou
What’s the best way to warm up when fall starts setting brisk winds across our city? Priming those hips for shaking, of course. And what better way to bum-bum to bachata’s classic beat than with former Aventura member and current sensational solo artist Romeo Santos’ Oct. 11 show at American Airlines Arena. Still enjoying the success of 2017’s Golden album, Santos will be bringing a little bit of swing to town for yet another non-stop performance of all his latest and greatest hits; AAArena.com.

Olé Impact
A musician whose seamless fusion of traditional Afro-Caribbean rhythms and the eclectically endless possibilities of a Moog synthesizer always entertains, although not necessarily gracing our region’s biggest stages, no true music fan should miss ace electro artist Jose Conde’s performance at Wynwood Yard Oct. 16. An eccentric auteur who draws from any and every sound he finds attractive, there’s always a dance-ready throughline in this estimable techno savant’s sets; TheWynwoodYard.com.

Fun For All
Featuring not one, not two, but 15 fantastic days of hispanic LGBTQ pride, Celebrate Orgullo is the ideal blend of art, activism and antics that every community needs. From drag shows to social justice training, glamorous galas and a two-week long veneration of established salsa artist Celia Cruz’s career, there’s no excuse to not attend at least one day of this dynamic and educational affair; Oct. 1-15; CelebrateOrgullo.com.

Fast & Fortuitous
Are you a true-blue gearhead? Does your ideal time-travel adventure include slick-backed hair, the hum of a hotrod, and a pack of smokes rebelliously tucked inside a white t-shirt sleeve? If so, then clear your calendars for the always fantastic 48th Annual Miami International Auto Show, taking place between Oct. 5-13 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Showcasing a breathtaking bevy of both not-yet-released vehicles and cherry vintage automobiles, this is one car show that can’t fail to get your motor running.
