Luis & Sofia Espinosa
While working at The Miami Herald, Luis Espinosa didn’t know it, but his career and life would forever change. It’s where he met his wife of over 23 years, Sofia Maresma Espinosa, also a former executive for the media company, and now a successful real estate professional. It is also where Luis worked with and ultimately joined Florida East Coast Realty’s visionary founder Tibor Hollo, serving as the company’s Vice President of Marketing. Luis & Sofia have much in common: both were born in Cuba but grew up in the U.S. — Luis in New Jersey and Sofia in Miami. Both earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration; she graduating from Florida International University and he from St. Thomas University. Today, Luis continues his role with Florida East Coast Realty and Sofia is a top-ranked Real Estate Broker Associate & Sales Director with Fortune International Group. Together, this powerhouse couple is unstoppable.
Jane Muir & Mark Dougherty
After a whirlwind romance and surprise engagement, dynamo attorney Jane Muir & soccer superstar Mark Dougherty married at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Brickell. “It was a morning wedding in the Anglican style, so we asked all of the ladies to wear hats,” they say. “The service was a mass with a full choir. The formality of the ceremony contrasted with the Junkanoo band that led the crowd of 300 to the hotel next door for brunch.” Among the many things they have in common, they are both strong leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit: Mark has been captain of every sports team he’s played for from childhood to the professional arena; and Jane runs her own law firm and has been an officer and president of dozens of clubs and organizations throughout the years. “We describe our competitive drive as The UGH,” they say. “Without a bit of friction, there is no traction!”
Jeannette Coto Dou & Remy Dou
Faith, love and a match on eHarmony brought Jeannette Coto Dou and Remy Dou together more than 8 years ago. Since then, the couple has worked on establishing a joyful balance between their dynamic family life and professional endeavors. She is the VP of Onboard Revenue for all 12 ships in the Celebrity Cruises fleet; he’s an Associate Professor at Florida International University, leading a research team to discover what factors motivate children and adults to identify with STEM fields and related careers. “Although we’re both very ambitious, we’ve been able to achieve many of our goals by always putting family first and never having to compromise on kindness,” they say. “In all things, whatever the circumstance, we want the best for each other, our children, our family, our colleagues, our friends, and everyone else we are blessed to have in our lives.”
