Best Life

Growing up exploring and fishing in canals, running through the woods and playing in orange groves, Tracy Kohn is as outdoorsy as they come. The Broker & Partner at Kohn Commercial Real Estate is currently training for a 50K Chattajack 31 paddlecraft race on the Tennessee River through the gorge out of Chattanooga. “The secret to my lifelong fitness journey is to just get up and move my body a little more each day while setting achievable goals with a realistic plan for next steps in the process,” she says. “One of my greatest dreams is to live a long, healthy, medication-free life filled with joy and adventure at every turn.”

No Nonsense

When it comes to achieving fitness goals, Rafael Olartecoechea of Vive Ageless Weight Loss is all about the math. “Ignore what you see on social media,” he says. “Set small, attainable targets and always remember that knowing the numbers is everything.” As far as fuel, he says balance is key. “Diets rarely work so I don’t believe in them,” he says. “What does work is accountability, metrics, data and eating well 80% of the time.” When it comes to cycling, he measures gains by more than just mileage and speed. “I want to continue to be able to ride at an elite level while squatting 350 and benching 315,” he says. “I’m living proof that when participating in your activity of choice, you can build both your endurance and your muscle mass without sacrificing your overall stamina and quality of life.”

Good Sport

Cheering comes naturally for Marian Ancheta — she was a competitive cheerleader in middle school, Cheer Captain in high school, and she lived out her dream of cheering for the Miami Hurricanes while studying at the University of Miami. Today, the International Tax Attorney cheers for each and every client win. But it wasn’t until 2017 that she fell in love with running after completing the Miami Half Marathon. “There were people of all ages, walks of life and physical abilities running alongside me,” she says. “The feeling of the crowd cheering us on — it was an incredible example of the power of the human spirit.” Today, she regularly travels to run races all over the country and the world, with a goal of running all six World Marathon Majors. “Your mind will stop you before your body ever does, so keep pushing your limits,” she says. “You will reach new heights you never dreamed possible!”

Beast Mode

Hospitality powerhouse Emi Guerra may be known for his world-class concepts at The Wharf, John Martin’s, Pier 5, Carousel Club, the new Regatta Grove, and many others, but he is also an athlete at his core. He played soccer for 16 years and baseball for 9. In high school, he branched out into football, track, discus and shot put. Most recently, he’s delved into HYROX, combined with an intermittent fasting eating schedule. “In 2016, I let myself go and reached a whopping 323 lbs,” he says. “As a result of this, I developed some serious health issues and just wasn’t happy. It’s been a long journey and I’ve lost more than 80 lbs and managed to keep the pounds off while continuing to work toward future fitness goals.”

Winning Edge

A former world-ranked tennis professional and Clemson Hall of Fame athlete, tennis legend Jane Forman has devoted more than 30 years to developing community tennis and sports programs for players of all ages through The Jane Forman Tennis Academy. In 2010, she joined forces with Riviera Preparatory School and currently serves as the Director of Racquet Sports, where she helps instill sportsmanship and an attitude of gratitude. “My job is so active and high-energy that it motivates me to be in consistently good shape,” she says. “It’s incredibly important to set short-term, attainable goals and never stop when you get sore — you’ll only get stronger!”
