After a successful career in ballet and fundraising for the arts, Gradon Hadaway is currently the Director of Development for Jackson Health System, the largest safety net hospital in South Florida. “When I tell people I’m a professional fundraiser, some assume that I stand in public somewhere asking passersby for donations,” he says. “The reality is that fundraisers usually do not solicit a gift until many months of identification, qualification and cultivation.” Giving has been a part of his life for a long time, beginning at the age of 13 when he was a member of St. John Ambulance, a non-profit organization that provides free First Aid coverage to public events. “People give to people,” he says. “They give you their time, talent and treasure.”
