Designed by acclaimed artist Marco Cochrane, R-Evolution is a massive female symbol of strength and liberation which first debuted at Burning Man. It is the third and final sculpture of The Bliss Project, a series depicting a woman, Deja Solis, expressing her humanity. Using a Pantograph — a Medieval-era enlargement tool — the sculpture was built from hand using classical sculpting techniques, beginning with a life-size original that was enlarged to a 15-foot clay version, before taking the final metal form. The completed 45-foot sculpture is comprised of steel rod and tubing, utilizing two layers of geodesic triangles covered by a stainless steel mesh. The sculpture explores and expresses what it feels like when a woman can just be her whole person, radiating her energy into the world. R-Evolution captures all of Deja’s expressions, including her breathing, via 16 motors in her chest, demonstrating how her energy radiates into the world; Now thru Apr. 2024; MarcoCochraneSculpture.net.
