A highly respected industry professional with over 35 years of senior executive leadership experience, Jerry Plush joined Amerant in 2021 and immediately began working to raise its profile with community outreach. Amerant has long had strong ties to Coral Gables with their headquarters in The City Beautiful since 2001. “With the name change, it was like a reintroduction to our local community,” says Plush. “And in my experience, the best way to raise brand awareness is to align with other successful organizations in your own backyard.” He was soon putting Amerant logos on the Florida Panther’s hockey team helmets and sponsoring key local events like the Amerant Bank 5K benefitting United Way Miami and the Coconut Grove Arts Festival. Backing up this highly respected community image is a combination of big bank service with a private bank feel, and a focus on real-world modern banking needs. He is currently working on growing digital and private banking, wealth management services, expanding financial planning tools, and adding key business development team members, to name a few. This year, Amerant opened their first commercial office in Tampa, based on the “exponential growth” in that area; and they were recently named to Newsweek’s “Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces”; AmerantBank.com.
