Purposeful Life

Mixed-media artist Gianna D.’s concept, material and process can best be described as the three main constants — or cornerstones — the “why,” “what” and “how” of her practice. Each mesmerizing piece tells an important story.

Innovative Artist Gianna D. believes that while much of life is measured by points — birth, graduations, marriage, insert-your-own-milestone-here, death — the reality is that most of life really occurs between the points. These spaces are ripe with possibility — things that are not fixed. Even on an emotional level, we may speak of happiness, sadness and anger, and miss the nameless emotions in between. While the English language is not equipped to identify these spaces, Gianna “talks” about the in-betweens visually by aligning concept, material and process to create art that connects with the viewer. Charity also plays a large role in her life. She believes in the importance of giving back and has donated artwork to numerous charities and fundraising events. She also enjoys volunteering her time as a visiting artist to local schools and organizations; GiannaDiBartolomeo.com.
