Phuc Yea Turns 15: Miami’s Viet-Cajun Michelin Bib Gourmand

Celebrating 10 years in its current location on Biscayne Blvd., and 15 years since launching the pop-up that started it all in a Downtown Miami hallway, Phuc Yea has been satiating tastebuds and filling bellies since 2011.

Run by Anièce Meinhold and Chef Cesar Zapata, the restaurant has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand every year since the award came to Florida. It has also weathered a lot to get there, including the Zika outbreak, Hurricane Irma and the pandemic. The food started as Meinhold’s family Vietnamese recipes and picked up Cajun and Latin influence from Zapata over the years. Signature dishes from the original menu, like the Viet-Cajun Fried Chicken and PY Noodles, are still served today. The group has grown to 6 locations across Miami-Dade, including Pho Sho and LCKY.CHKN; PhucYea.com.
