Global Affection
With a love story that transcends time and space, Yves Paradis & Jenny Nieveen of OHLA Schools have experienced 3 proposals as a couple — once on a flight to Germany, another at the Eiffel Tower, and lastly atop the Empire State Building. “I kept all 3 engagement rings,” quips Jenny. Now happily together for 23 years, this power couple loves to give back by offering free English classes every Friday for hundreds of community members looking to learn the language. “We have cultivated a bond that is unbreakable, complementing one another in everything we do,” they say. “We have been exceptionally blessed to have created a world around us where we don’t ever compromise our love.”
Forever Love
Sparking a young romance while attending boarding school, Jakub & Carolina Hejl share a deep commitment to one another, their family, professions and community. He is the Founder & CEO of Westside Capital Group; she is the Founder & Creative Director of Kolane, a luxury shoe brand launching later this year. When it comes to giving back, they support Florida Grand Opera, Special Olympics, Sebastian Strong, Casita Maria and The Alliance For Florida’s National Parks, among many other causes. “Our family believes that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give,” they say. Exploring the world together is a big part of their life. “We recently took a trip to Big Sky in Montana, where we enjoyed just hanging out by the fireplace, something that you don’t experience too much living in Miami,” they say. “It was also our first big trip with our daughter and her first time seeing snow!” They say there’s nothing they love more than going through life together. “Raising our family and supporting and encouraging each other in the good and bad times is what makes our love grow stronger year after year.”
Joyous Journey
Dr. Sunil Amin & Dr. Katie Amin work alongside each other at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Before this power couple started saving lives together as doctors and getting involved with the University of Miami and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s fundraisers for cancer research, they met in New York City at a bar aptly named “Happy Endings.” They liken their love story to When Harry Met Sally, and 11 years later, the pair look back fondly on their countless adventures and the journeys yet to come. Their advice for a long-lasting relationship: “Find your synergy as a couple,” they say. “Trust that love will steer you through the hard times and the good times.”
