Making Bread

Born in Macedonia, Emil Hristov’s love for bread began as a 6-year-old, tasked with picking up fresh loaves each morning from his neighborhood bread maker.

But when he moved to the U.S., he was met with mass-produced breads that felt devoid of taste, nutrition and soul. His return trips to Europe took him back to the fresh-baked bread traditions and inspired him to create his own sourdough empire back home. He named his company Domaselo — combining two Macedonian words: “doma” (home) and “selo” (village), reflecting his vision of creating simple, wholesome bread reminiscent of his childhood. Each loaf is a masterpiece, with options like French Onion, Cinnamon Raisin and fan favorite High Protein, offering 6 grams of protein per slice from almonds, pumpkin seeds and walnuts. As a competitive runner and avid endurance sports enthusiast, he bakes with athletes in mind, creating options ideal for pre- and post-training.
