As Friends of Miami Animals Foundation celebrates 10 years, their work has grown from helping individual animals and the people who love them to investing in meaningful, long-term improvements so that every animal has the chance to be treated with care, dignity and compassion. Supporting Miami-Dade County’s new municipal shelter is an important part of that work. Shelter design is highly specialized, and it’s critical to bring experienced professionals to the table. FoMA funded the involvement of Animal Arts, a nationally recognized shelter design firm, to work alongside the developer, Animal Services, and the County to help create the best, most humane environment possible for animals within the project’s financial and operational constraints. “Our supporters have made it possible for FoMA to step forward when opportunities like this arise to bring expertise, resources and practical solutions to the table where they can have an impact far beyond a single animal,” says FoMA President & Founder Yolanda Berkowitz. “Ten years in, that ability to help strengthen the larger animal welfare system has become an increasingly important part of who we are.”; FoMAPets.org.
