“Creating a family-oriented work environment is one of my keys to success, and Amerant Bank has helped nourish that and so much more.”

Originally from Cuba, Tairis Alsina grew up in a household where her parents told their children to be thankful that they were living in America — the land of opportunities. “Their struggle encouraged me to become an independent and entrepreneurial person,” she says. And so she did. Her first job was at 13; at 16, she began her own business at local flea markets selling clothing handcrafted by her mother and grandmother. She was also a professional ballet dancer and back-up dancer for Celia Cruz; purchased her first home at the age of 18; and married during high school. Being the mother of 2 wonderful daughters (and later in life, a stepmother to 4) has pushed her to be the best she can be for her family. When she was a student at Hialeah High School, they had had a visitor on Career Day who spoke about working at a bank. “I fell in love with banking that day,” she says. “I began working as a bank teller while I was in school and have worked in numerous financial institutions across multiple lines of business over the years. This demonstrates the importance of having our educators take the time to help students pursue their career dreams.” Now Senior VP & Head of Private Banking at Amerant Bank, she nurtures the career paths of her team and assists clients in every step of their financial journey; AmerantBank.com.
