Epic Style

When it comes time to design a watch, the usual question is whether to follow a sleek, minimalist look or allow a view of the inner workings. H. Moser & Cie. decided to do both in this unique new timepiece.

As we know from the theme song from the TV show Big Bang Theory, everything we see around us and above us sprang from a Black Hole, into which we will someday in the (hopefully) very far future once again enter, quite unwillingly. While the knowledge that a galactic vacuum from which light cannot escape will suck us into oblivion is both beautiful and terrifying, it was also the inspiration for a masterpiece of wrist-worn art by M. Moser & Cie. Starting with a dial finished in Vantablack, a synthetic material that absorbs 99.96% of the visible light spectrum, the watchmaker added only minute and hour hands. Secured to the wearer’s wrist by an elegant alligator leather strap, the most notable feature of the Endeavor Tourbillon Concept is the opening in the dial allowing a view of the inner works. A clear crystal allows a fuller view of the 28-jewel HMC 804 caliber tourbillon movement; Only 20 made; $63,000; H-Moser.com.
