On Nov. 7 @ 8 p.m., the Adrienne Arsht Center presents the ensemble in Knight Concert Hall for one unforgettable night, performing the brand-new album Le Grand Tango. For more than 25 years, these virtuosos have honored the legacy of bandoneon player and composer Astor Piazzolla, touring the U.S., Latin America, Europe, Australia and Asia. Under the musical direction of Julián Vat, Pablo Mainetti (bandoneon), Matías Feigin (piano), Serdar Geldymuradov (violin), Armando de La Vega (guitar) and Cristian Basto (double bass), the body of work is kept alive. The program reveals the most refined, profound and evolved side of the Argentine composer, with “Zita” and “Oblivion,” a specially adapted “Le Grand Tango” at full expressive intensity, and the rarely heard “Luna.” A reinterpretation of the Concerto for Bandoneón and Orchestra, arranged for quintet, rounds out the set; ArshtCenter.org.
