The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station began in 1980 with a tool shed and a single aviary for the purpose of caring for injured brown pelicans. Since then, it has grown into an internationally recognized center for seabird rehabilitation. While they’re most famous for their work with pelicans, they have expanded their services to assist all native wildlife. The facility receives thousands of sick, injured, orphaned and displaced wild animals each year. They range in size from warblers to tortoises. They also provide educational programming to local schools, assist local municipalities and residents with humane resolution of human-wildlife conflicts, and pair with other organizations and government agencies on research efforts that seek to protect wildlife. Got kids? Download the Misadventures Of Penelope The Pelican coloring and activity book. Got an injured animal? They accept all native birds, mammals and reptiles, which can dropped off 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This amazing group operates solely on donations; PelicanHarbor.org.
