Janette Valentine likes bringing out the best in her clients. “I have so much fun transforming women from all walks of life into bombshells,” she admits. The former make-up artist has been operating a retro-fabulous photo studio for over a decade now, taking highly stylized — and highly gorgeous — portraits that draw upon inspiration from the classic pin-up girls of the ‘40s and ‘50s. “What we do in the studio really gives everyone a huge self-esteem boost,” she says. With clients who are struggling against breast cancer, fighting weight issues or battling self-image problems, that uplifting experience can be all the more important. “I think that the psychological rewards ladies receive from these sessions makes what I do very special,” she says. Next on the agenda? Valentine plans to expand the studio, offering retro hair and makeup lessons, while incorporating burlesque classes into her repertoire; TerriblyGirly.com.
