Bryan Canales is the Managing Partner & Co-Beverage Director at Midtown’s newest bar, Bitter Truth. “I was inspired to be a bartender because of my love for seeing people come together from all walks of life,” he says. “I’ve always wanted to be a part of that.” Remember all those secrets you spilled after one too many last weekend? Don’t worry — they’re safe with him. “A bartender is like your BFF,” he says. “I once introduced a guy who was alone to a lady who was heartbroken. They ended up getting married. They came back a year later on their anniversary to thank me.” In the end, he believes his job grants him a unique opportunity: “I want to connect, build and grow with our universe and people…it’s all about evolution,” he says. “Making ‘drinks’ or ‘cocktails,’ whatever anyone wants to call them, is easy. However, taking care of people while you’re doing that? That’s bartending…we are all about connecting — if you question that, I invite you to come and have a shot with us!”
