Home Work

About a year ago, I invited a few of my friends over to my place for a “WORK FROM HOME DAY.”

This inaugural group for what has become a monthly meeting of the minds included a chef, an auditor, a lawyer, a public relations executive and a broker. Since then we’ve added professors, photographers and a few entrepreneurs to the mix. Sure, we don’t have the comforts of a cushy office chair or the privacy of a cubicle, but what we do have is good company and great conversation. We talk business, share ideas and eavesdrop on each other’s phone calls. What’s even better is that work from home days are sometimes much more productive than office days. With the lack of impromptu interruptions, distracting office politics, surprise meetings and everything else that comes with a traditional 9 to 5, I may soon be recruiting more professionals to join our network…your place or mine?

“Having regular get-togethers with friends who work outside of your industry is a great way to expand beyond your comfort zone in business and get creative in and out of the boardroom.”
