Every 3 minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia. It can happen to anyone, at any time. But so can a cure: A marrow or cord blood transplant. Be The Match brings patients, donors and supporters together via an extensive registry. The process is straightforward and starts with a simple swab. Once you join the Be The Match Registry, you will be included in patient searches every day to see if you’re a match. To date, the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Adult Stem Cell Transplant Program has completed 8 bone marrow transplants, 113 Peripheral Blood Stem Cell (PBSC) transplants, 2 cord blood transplants and 226 autologous (PBSC or Marrow) transplants. This center has been performing allogeneic transplants since 1994 and has been an NMDP/Be The Match transplant center since December 2001; BeTheMatch.org.
