A natural powerhouse, Vitamin C is ready to make us all look our very best. But there’s just one problem: Vitamin C can lose its potency quickly even by simply opening the bottle of serum or moisturizer that contains it. Don’t get out that bottle of white wine to drown your beauty sorrows quite yet. Scientists have come up with a solution: Vitamin C powder. All the benefits without the instability. You just add the mix to your favorite serum or moisturizer and voila. Many powders currently on the market are 100% pure, whereas a serum would only have 10%-20%. So you’re going to have to mix approximately 1/5 of a teaspoon to a teaspoon of serum. And, you have to be sure not to mix in less than 8%, or it won’t work. Also, don’t mix it with Vitamin E or Ferulic Acid as they decrease effectiveness eight-fold. And that’s definitely not a good thing. Lastly, pH matters, so using it with products in the 3 to 3.5 range is best, and there are tons of powders and supplements on the market to help you get started on a new path to the benefits of this powerhouse antioxidant.
