Wrist Art

Our biggest beef with smartwatches is you have to tap them to check the time, which is quite annoying to newer generations. However, with the incredibly unique Greubel Forsey Art Piece Edition 2, it’s part of the charm.

Greubel Forsey is known for timepieces that are sometimes more brilliant objets d’art than practical. The Greubel Forsey Art Piece Edition 2 takes this concept to stratospheric levels. A glance reveals a mesmerizingly beautiful dial that allows you to instantly assess the status of the movement’s 72-hour power reserve, but reveals not a clue as to the actual time of day. For that information, you must press a button at about the 4:30 mark to open the window that reveals a quite small, fan-shaped dial utilizing red triangles to indicate hours and minutes. It takes a bit of getting used to, and perhaps bifocals for the over-40 crowd, but it’s so delightfully complex that doing so is an adventure. If you’re simply all about knowing the time of day, get a Casio. But if you want to track time with a flair that few can match, the obvious choice is this Greubel Forsey; GreubelForsey.com.
