With over 24 years in the beauty business, consulting clients on how to take care of their skin is not only my profession; it’s my passion. A big mistake most people make has to do with proper exfoliation. Over-exfoliation doesn’t occur just by using scrubs or brushes…it can be caused by the overuse of anti-aging products. This eventually will leave the skin looking dull with dry patches all over. The ingredients that can be harsh on the skin if overused are Hyroquinone (Q-10), Retinol (Vitamin A or Retin A), Stearic Acid (Vitamin C), Kojic Acid (a lightner), Salacylic Acid and Glycolic Acid. For healthy, beautiful skin, exfoliate only twice a week, and only use top-of-the-line products. This means if one day you scrub, the next you can use a Retinol, a Vitamin C or an anti-aging packed full of vitamins. A healthy daily routine consists ideally of a cream-based basic cleanser combined with a hydrating sunblock with a 30 SPF or more and followed by using collagen as a night cream. This will yield the healthy, subtle and glowing skin you’ve always dreamed of.
