Retro Representations

Alexis Frias makes grown-up art that brings out the kid in all of us. His union of mosaic, sculpture & paint is inspired by the work of 2 Italian Masters: Mario & Luigi.

Alexis Frias’ work draws from the 8-bit Nintendo games of the mid-‘80s that marked the simpler and more social era of gaming aimed at entertainment rather than record profits. He takes those childhood brands and reimagines them to fit the contemporary world some say has lost its way. Under the moniker 8BitLexicon, he’s been featured at ARTcade, GAB Studio & Artopia. Fame comes second to artistic integrity and during his Free Art Friday series he donated pieces to random supporters if they are able to find them on telephone poles, bridges and parking lots.; 8BitLexicon.com.
