NAME THAT DRINK

For bartender Elizabeth Toranzo of Brickell’s popular Dolores…But You Can Call Me Lolita, the secret to her success behind the bar has less to do with the types of ingredients she uses to mix up her signature cocktails and more to do with what she calls each of her buzz-inducing creations.

We all remember Cheers, the show about the watering hole where everybody knows your name. But did you know we have our very own version of the legendary haunt right here in town? Well, we do. And it’s thanks to Dolores…But You Can Call Me Lolita’s Elizabeth Toranzo, one of the area’s most innovative mixologists. That’s because when you stumble into this venue looking for something new to sip, she not only whips something up for you based on your tastes, she also names the drink after you. And who doesn’t like a drink named after themselves? She’s even got a recipe on hand for the uber-indecisive. She calls it “Your Drink.” What’s more, her keen approach to bartending has yielded some pretty loyal clientele — and lots of tips. “I have one guy who comes in here almost every day and leaves me a $100 tip,” she says. “No matter what he orders — even if he knows exactly what he wants when he comes up to the bar — I name it after him.” And that personal touch is something that makes this bartender stand out in the best way possible…with a stiff drink in hand.

“Your Drink”
