Dream Realized

Slow Burn Theatre was born when Patrick Fitzwater and Matthew Korinko noticed a theatrical void in South Florida and made the commitment to fill it. Ten years later, they’re a key player in the local theatre scene.

Back in August 2009, Director & Choreographer Patrick Fitzwater and Actor Matthew Korinko set out to produce contemporary, challenging, modern musicals that few, if any, theaters would attempt. They opened their first show, Bat Boy: The Musical in February of 2010 in West Boca Community High School’s auditorium and their creativity has been soaring ever since. Today, they provide South Florida’s multi-cultural population with opportunities to experience high-quality, challenging, contemporary works of musical theater via Slow Burn Theatre productions. The company also offers educational and community outreach programs. In their first triumphant decade, they have received 9 coveted Carbonell Awards including 2018’s Best Musical. Upcoming shows include Groundhog Day: The Musical through Feb. 16; Ragtime Mar 20-Apr. 5; and Footloose June 5-21; SlowburnTheatre.org.
